Given the 1991-2013 build window, the failures we see out here skew toward age-related wear rather than outdated design. Torsion springs on doors installed in the early 2000s are hitting or past their cycle life now, and that's the single most common call across every town we drive to. Nylon rollers from original builds are brittle by this point too, especially on doors that get daily use.
The cold, moderate climate plays a role in timing more than in damage - grease thickens on cold mornings, which makes an opener strain harder than it should and can mask a spring that's already failing. We get more no-start calls in the coldest stretch of winter than any other time of year.
One limit worth naming: because almost none of the housing stock here predates 1991, we don't carry parts for the oldest torsion and extension hardware styles. If a door happens to be an outlier from before that era, we may need to source a part before we can finish the job, and we'll tell you that on the spot rather than guess.
